Our Client is a leading provider of metal fabrication and machining services. With a team of skilled professionals, they offer a range of engineering solutions to meet the needs of their clients across various industries.  They are currently seeking  2 x Machinist Ist Class to join their team in Brisbane’s Northern suburbs.

Job Description:

For this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating hand tools, machines or equipment to cut, shape and form metal stock and casting to exact sizes in accordance with drawings, CAD systems and specifications. This includes machining metal components from single to complex form and studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine material and equipment requirements by examining detailed drawings or specifications.
  • Use hand tools to prepare metal stock by selecting, cleaning, and cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes.
  • Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools.
  • Set up and adjust metalworking machines and equipment to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling, shaping, slotting, grinding, or drilling metal stock components.
  • Assemble metal parts, tools, or sub-assemblies, including welding or brazing parts.
  • Repair or replace defective parts by dismantling faulty tools and assemblies.
  • Check the accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies using quality control techniques.
  • Work independently or in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Operate all lifting equipment incidental to normal work when holding the appropriate licenses.
  • Perform non-trade tasks incidental to normal work.
  • Provide trade guidance and assistance as part of a work team.
  • Inspect products and/or materials for conformity with established operations standards.
  • Assist in the provision of on-the-job training.
  • Assist and participate in the repair and preventive maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Appropriate licenses for materials handling equipment and relevant vehicles.
  • Certificate of completion in Engineering-Mechanical trade 1st Class Machinist or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team-building skills.
  • Strength to handle materials, tools, and machines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work unsupervised and be safety conscious.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Stress management, time management, and mathematics skills.
